Are you riding yet?!

Well, spring is finally upon us, sort of. We are planning for our first outing to the mountains here in a few weeks. Is anyone else riding?

Unfortunately, not much. Only my Arab gelding is ridable right now and he's a 30 minute drive for me. My Arab mare is recovering, but not ready yet to start riding again. Xana has had a saddle on her and been bitted up, but no ground driving yet...hopefully I'll be on her by fall, but it will all depend on her willingness. I hope your ride is fabulous! Will you be going to the HMAs?

We are just heading in to winter in New Zealand and I,m always riding. would love to be on a Kiger, making steps to perhaps import. From only seeing Kigers on the Web its a tricky step to find where to buy any suggestions? Enjoy your warm weather in the mountains where are you from Jillian?.

Hi Karen,

We are in Oregon. We just love heading up to the Cascades or over to the Ochocos. It is nice and cool and the horses get a good workout (so do we!). But, I think our first ride will be nice and easy on the grasslands (flat land).

You had contacted us many years ago, but export at that time was running $6600 per horse just in fees alone. Send me another email and I'll start calling up companies again. It might be worth your value to import a bred mare, than you could recap some expenses by selling the ONLY Kiwi born Kiger foal.

Yes, we will be returning to the HMAs to photograph the wild horses again this year. I'd love to organize a ride out there. Now is the best time....later in the summer the mosquitos are nasty!

Jillian, I would love to ride in the Cascades or Orchocos and go to the HMAs! May be some day....! Here in VT I just got my coming four year old kiger mare, Shiloh, back from the trainers and she is doing really well. She does like to gawp as we ride on the trail, but eventually she will know the territory we ride in. Her gaits are very comfortable and she is fun to ride as well as being beautiful.

I also am riding our just trained 3 yr. old AQHA palomino, Rhett and our 4 yr. old TB/Perch gelding, Deputy Deuce, so am quite busy riding after school each day. But I am having fun as are my husband and recently graduated from college daughter, Erin.

I wish I was, when others leave the barn to go on a ride I cry inside, I love Faith and I love raising a baby but I am thinking now with her background of Poco Bueno Bars she might just wait till 3 to be saddle trained will have vet see how she is doing since she is due for vacc now. Anne
